RIO BRAVO, Mexico, Dec. 15 – Under heavy security, Mexican President, Filipe Calderon Hinojosa presided over the opening ceremonies of the Donna-Rio Bravo international bridge on Tuesday.

The inauguration was he culmination of a project that began back in the years of the Jimmy Carter administration that had been delayed over the years by economics, lost paperwork and a lack of priority given to it by previous governments on either side of the border.

Bridge Is Now Open!

December 29, 2010

Opening ceremonies were  held Tuesday, December 14, 2010, for the new Donna-Rio Bravo international bridge.  Mexican President Calderon presided over the festivities and U.S. Representative Ruben Hinojosa spoke at both the inauguration and the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new administration building on the Donna side of the bridge.

Presidential Permit Issued

October 6, 2010

A Presidential Permit has been issued to allow unrestricted commercial traffic.  Truck crossings can start as soon as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspection facilities are built (expected to be completed in 2011).
